International student loans
Higher education institutions outside the United States
Sallie Mae International helps foreign institutions of higher education offer student loan programs to their U.S. students who are pursuing degrees.

Sallie Mae International is dedicated to serving the needs of its international college and university customers.
Federal Stafford loans are the most common source of education loan funds and are available to graduate and undergraduate students.
- Federal subsidized loans are need-based. Interest does not accrue on these loans while the student is in school and during the grace period before repayment begins.
- Federal unsubsidized loans are not need-based. The borrower is responsible for all accumulated interest on the loan.
Most of the terms and conditions of subsidized and unsubsidized Stafford loans are the same.
The federally sponsored Parent PLUS loan is a low interest education loan for parents of undergraduate, dependent students. With a Parent PLUS loan, families can fund the entire cost of a child's education (less other financial aid).
Graduate and professional students may apply for Grad PLUS loans. The student must be a U.S. or non-citizen permanent resident and must be attending graduate school at least half time at an eligible school.
Visit the U.S. Department of Education website to see what schools are eligible.
The Signature Student Loan is a privately insured, credit-based loan. Undergraduate and graduate students can finance the entire cost of their education by combining a Stafford Loan with a private Signature Student Loan.
With an MBA LOANS Private Loan, graduate business students can finance the entire cost of their graduate business education.
U.S. students enrolled in a graduate health professions program at an eligible institution outside of the U.S. may apply for the Global Health Education Loan Program (GHELP). GHELP can help cover the entire cost of a graduate health professions education. The program provides students with a federal Stafford loan, a private education loan, and a residency and relocation loan option for graduate medical students.
The Tuition Answer Loan is a practical, affordable education loan that allows students with a creditworthy cosigner to get $1,500–$40,000 per year to cover absolutely any qualified college-related expense.
