A note to Mozilla Firefox 2.0 users

A bug in the Mozilla Firefox 2.0 browser's Password Manager can reveal your passwords in clear text.

Some of our customers using Mozilla Firefox 2.0 have reported seeing their Manage Your LoansSM password revealed as clear text (instead of hidden by asterisks) when trying to log in to their accounts.

This is most likely the result of a bug first reported in November 2006 by Firefox users who saved their password using their browser's Password Manager.

To get around this problem, make sure your browser does not automatically save your passwords. Consult your browser's help files to learn how to do this.

This Security Focus article, "Password management concerns with IE and Firefox, part two," provides more detail about the issue, while this post on "Encrypting stored sensitive information" on the Mozilla Foundation website discusses how to encrypt your saved passwords.
